The wise person has his eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. Ecclesiastes 2:14
In our Follow the Leader Class this week we discussed how our thoughts impact our dancings as well as our walk as christians. Here is a little of our homework.
What are you thinking? Homework
In our first lesson we discussed the importance of learning your own part and not leaning on our partner. As Christians one of the first steps to being successful in mastering our part is taking our thoughts captive. 1 peter 1:13 says Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:22-24 says to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Romans 12:2 states Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. And Philippians 4:8 says Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. As Proverbs 4:23 states Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.
Tools to test your thoughts
Love Test: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends.
Spirit Test: Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
